IL TESORO DELLA CASA DI NAZARETH - THE TREASURE OF THE HOUSE OF NAZARETH

LA SANTA FAMIGLIA, MODELLO DI VITA E DI VIRTU'

All’aggravarsi della crisi che - oggi come non mai -
minaccia le famiglie cristiane,
la Chiesa non si stanca di invitare
i fedeli del mondo intero
a volgere lo sguardo verso la Famiglia di Nazareth,
famiglia UNICA nella storia dell’umanità.

Significative sono, a tale proposito,
le parole pronunciate
dal nostro amatissimo Papa Benedetto XVI,
all'inizio del suo Pontificato:
“Nel focolare di Nazareth
Gesù raggiunse la sua maturità
in seno ad una Famiglia umanamente splendida
e compenetrata dal Mistero divino,
che continua ad essere un Modello
per tutte le famiglie”.

Modello, cioè, di preghiera,
di nascondimento,
di silenzio,
di lavoro,
di distacco dalle ricchezze,
di umiltà,
di dolcezza,
di amabilità,
di sacrificio,
di purezza,
di offerta di sé…
in una parola: di Amore.

La Famiglia di Gesù è, senza ombra di dubbio,
l’unico rimedio concreto ai mali
che affliggono le nostre;
il SOLO Modello di famiglia
secondo la Volontà di Dio;
è quel TESORO NASCOSTO
di cui parla il Vangelo
che, scoperto, conduce l’uomo della parabola
a vendere tutto ciò che ha per acquistarlo,
poiché prezioso più d’ogni altra cosa al mondo.

Anche tu che leggi, come ogni cristiano,
sei chiamato alla santità,
anzi, ad un alto grado di santità,
vocazione di OGNI cristiano.

Quale mezzo più breve e più facile può esservi, allora,
se non quello di imitare le virtù
di Gesù, Maria e Giuseppe?

E’ questo, infatti, un segreto noto purtroppo
ancora a pochi:
scegliere
come GUIDA DEL PROPRIO CAMMINO

la Santa Famiglia,
facendosi accompagnare da Lei
lungo la via della santità,
che non significa compiere imprese straordinarie,
ma LE COSE DI OGNI GIORNO CON AMORE,
proprio come fece la Santa Famiglia a Nazareth.

NESSUNO è escluso
dal prenderli come Modello di vita:
Gesù, Maria e Giuseppe, infatti,
non sono solo il Modello di ogni famiglia
ma, poiché condussero una vita
purissima e verginale,
divengono un esempio
da conoscere, onorare ed imitare
per i religiosi, i vedovi, i celibi, le nubili

ed anche per gli stessi giovani.

Sentiti, dunque, invitato/a ad entrare
nella piccola Casa
in cui “il Verbo si fece carne”
e fu felice di trascorrere
la maggior parte della sua esistenza terrena
accanto a chi lo amò più di chiunque altro:
l’Immacolata e San Giuseppe.

Ci ottengano la Madonna e il suo Sposo verginale
- che sono la Via più breve, più facile e più sicura

per giungere a Gesù -
l’incommensurabile grazia di avvicinarci
sempre di più a Lui,
di conoscerlo ancora più profondamente,
per amarlo e servirlo come hanno fatto loro...

THE TREASURE OF THE HOUSE OF NAZARETH

At the worsening of the crisis which - now more than ever -
threatens Christian families,
the Church does not tire of inviting
the faithful of the whole world
to turn our gaze to the Family of Nazareth,
family UNIQUE in the whole human history.

Significant in this regard, are the words
of our beloved Pope Benedict XVI
at the beginning of his pontificate:
"In the hearth of Nazareth
Jesus reached His maturity
within a Family humanly beautiful
and pervaded by the divine Mystery,
which continues to be a Model
for all families. "

Model, that is, of prayer,
of concealment,
of silence,
of work,
of detachment from riches,
of humility,
of sweetness,
of amiability,
of sacrifice,
of purity,
of self-offering…
in one word: of Love.

Jesus’s Family is, without doubt,
the only real remedy for the ills
that plague our own;
the ONLY Model of family
living according to the Will of God;
it is that HIDDEN TREASURE
that is mentioned in the Gospel
which, once discovered,
leads the man in the parable
to sell all he has to buy it,
since it is more valuable than anything else in the world.

Even you who are reading this, as every Christian,
are called to holiness,
indeed, to a high degree of holiness,
the vocation of every Christian.

Which way is there that can be is shorter and easier, then,
than to imitate the virtues of
Jesus, Mary, and Joseph?

This is, in fact, a secret
known unfortunately to still a few:
choose
as the GUIDE FOR ONE’S OWN JOURNEY
the Holy Family,
and be accompanied by Them
along the path of holiness,
which does not mean to accomplish extraordinary feats,
but TO DO THE EVERY DAY THINGS WITH LOVE,
just as the Holy Family in Nazareth DID.

NO ONE is excluded
from taking them as Models of life:
Jesus, Mary, and Joseph, in fact,
not only are the Model for every family
but since They led a life
most pure and virginal,
They become an example
to know, honor, and imitate
for consecrated religious, for widows and widowers, for single men, single women
and also for young people themselves.

Feel, therefore, invited to enter
in the small House
in which "the Word became flesh"
and was happy to spend
most of His earthly life
alongside those who loved Him more than anyone else:
the Immaculate Virgin and St. Joseph.

May the Blessed Mother and her virginal Spouse
- they who are the shortest, easiest and safest road
to come to Jesus -
grant us the immeasurable grace of approaching ever
closer to Him,
to know Him ever more deeply,
to love and serve Him as they did ...
